NAFCA 2012 unveiled in Lagos

Award winning film critic and founder of Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards (NAFCA), DR Victor Olatoye has won the hearts of many stakeholders in the Nigerian film industry when he unveiled plans to make this year’s edition a huge success.

Addressing a selected movie journalists, marketers and actors  alike at the Artiste Village, National Theatre, complex, Lagos, ahead of the event slated for September 15 and 16, 2012,  in North Carolina, US,  Olatoye decked in a bluish designers’ suite, explained that “NAFCA is the African Oscar Awards in the United States and Europe.”
This president/CEO of Nollywood Film Critics listed poor quality of movie-script as one of the most difficult challenges facing Nollywood.
He said the aim of the interactive session with the stakeholders was to see how he could help them market their films abroad through his novel initiative called merchandizing Nollywood Shops-a concept which will eventually make the producers make more money in America.
The film critic disclosed that the duo of Van Vicker and Nollywood actress Angela Okorie will be the host of  the event.
According to him, NAFCA ‘is an award ceremony in North America for the African Movie industry worldwide and it serves as an award of merit for distinctive achievement’. Also the essence of the award is to boost movies and film makers from across Africa.
The two-day event which holds every second week in September will begin with a Nollywood summit, movie premiere and an after party on Saturday, September 15 at the Carolina Museum of Art, US. The awards proper will hold on Sunday, September, 16, 2012 at the Carolina Theatre Durham, North Carolina, US.
