As Nigeria celebrates 53 years of independence amid the crippling state of the economy, celebs speak with Nigerian Entertainment Today on the state of the nation, while extending congratulatory messages to Nigeria and Nigerians in the hope of a prosperous nation ahead.
‘Nigerians are fantastic people’- Uche Jombo
Nigerians are fantastic people so I wish our country, Nigeria the best. I wish them well. I want a future and better Nigeria where we will all get to high positions. I am hoping for a Nigeria where we will have constant electricity.
‘We need good leaders’-Segun Arinze
What else can I wish my country? Nigeria is going to stand strong and united. We are edging towards 100 years. This is a time for us to reflect on what will make us better. We need good leaders and pray that God opens their eyes. Any leader that tries to hinder our progress and does not want to step down, God will clear them from the way. NO JAGA JAGA. We want those that will transform us to a new Nigeria.
‘Our major problems are greed and corruption’ -Mode 9
It is Nigeria’s birthday so we should celebrate our country. We are actually celebrating the good and taking note of the bad; also, finding out how we can improve. If you compare Nigeria to some other countries, you will see that we are not doing too bad. Some people are working but there is still room for improvement. Our major problems in Nigeria are greed and corruption so we should work on that.
‘There is really nothing to celebrate’ -Ruggedman
Looking at the terrible condition of citizens, I can say there is really nothing to celebrate until our leaders implement policies and bring forth facilities that will make our lives better. We see the kind of money hovering around the country but it doesn’t get to the masses rather there are more problems. For instance, the new license plate which does not help us at all. We celebrate our lives but in Nigeria, there is basically nothing to celebrate.
‘May his will be done’ -Teju Babyface
May his will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May his kingdom come. Amen. That is all I have to say.
‘There’s no place like home’ – Grace Amah
We all know what Nigeria is all about but it doesn’t rule out the fact that there is still hope in the country. I can’t run away because there is no place like home so we wish Nigeria peace and the best. Things will definitely get better.
‘Jonathan is the best president ever’-Zeb Ejiro
I thank God for Nigeria as we celebrate our 53rd Independence and wish them the best. I don’t think there’s any problem in Nigeria. Jonathan is doing well. He is the best president ever.
‘Nigeria would overcome her challenges’ -Bob Manuel
There are a lot of activities lined up in Anambra state where I currently work. I am the senior special assistant on creative media and after the programs I will take a rest. I wish Nigeria would overcome her challenges such as lack of infrastructures, security and also emerge as a strong and united nation.
‘We pray for good leaders’- Desmond Eliot
We thank God for a great country like Nigeria. We pray for good leaders; leaders with a good heart, a heart of the nation and that will build the younger ones. I am also looking forward to a Nigeria with more birthdays to celebrate.
‘My wish is for us to continue to live in peace and unity’-AY Comedian
The Good Book says we should give thanks in all things. So permit me to thank God for Nigeria as a nation at 53. My wish is for us to continue to live in peace and unity as we serve our great country with all our strength to achieve better years.
‘Nigeria is richly endowed and blessed’- Zack Orji
We have so much to celebrate in our country. Nigeria is richly endowed and blessed. We have enough human and material resources to make us number one but the tragedy is that the wrong people are managing it. Everybody is blaming the president but they are also not doing the right things. Everyone is a leader in different domains. We should realize who we are because we will lead ourselves into the abyss or heaven. The future is bright and nobody can stop that. God is watching, he will intervene at the right time. God bless Nigeria.
