Cases of suicide are on the rise these days… What’s happening?
The latest case is that of 27-year-old Kasim Adeniran of Idi Oro, Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The deceased, who was the ‘Oluwo Ogboni’ of Egbeda, Ibadan, was found hanging on the ceiling of his father’s house.
Residents of the area said the father of four was last seen on Friday night until he was found by his 10-year-old daughter. She reportedly told the neighbours that she saw her father with a rope the previous night, adding that her father had on Friday night given his telephone and a suicide note to her.
The note which he left with his daughter was taken away by the police from Akanran Police Station. Reports have it that the suicide note indicated that the deceased had financial and marital challenges.
The policemen were prevented from taking Kasim’s corpse awayas some family members said some rituals must be performed on it. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr. Ayodele Lanade, said he did not have any information on the matter.
