Don Jazzy, D’Prince sign multi million Naira endorsement deal with MTN

MTN‘s quest to sign almost every relevant artiste out there isn’t over. The telecoms giant have now added Pop producer Don Jazzy and younger brother D’Prince to the list of brand ambassadors for the company.

Obviously excited that they’ve joined the not-that-exclusive list of artistes with endorsement deals, Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavin Records as well as label signee D’Prince expressed their joy on social networks Twitter and Instagram.

‘Me and @DPRINCEMAVIN don join @Tiwasavage Port oooo. #MTN‘, @DonJazzy wrote on Twitter with D’Prince announcing on Instagram ‘The Newest MTN Brand Ambassador on the Continent…Greatness meets Greatness ..‘.

Don Baba J and Omo Oba are however not the first set of Mavin recording acts to sign up with MTN. A few weeks ago, Tiwa Savage penned her own deal, reportedly worth close to N25m.

It is unclear how much these new deals were struck for as their reps couldn’t be reached as at the time of this report.

Other MTN ambassadors include KCEE, Wizkid, Davido, Iyanya, Praiz, Chidinma and reportedly iMike.

Musician Wizkid isn’t ready to drop his dream of starting his own record label just yet.

After breaking up with the EME crew, Wizkid shocked fans when he tweeted about his next album coming June 12 under the EME label. Although Wizkid appears to be willing to stay with EME records, he is still working on side projects as his own record label “STAR BOY ENTERTAINMENT” is very much alive. To prove this, Wizkid confirmed the signing of UK based producer “Maleek Berry” to his label .

i really don't know why i like this Shei Funmi ..... At the recent press parley for the MTV Africa All Stars event, Nigerian Artiste David Adedeji Adelekepopularly called
Davido, threatened to assault and murder International blogger Sheifunmi, over a supposed rude tweet.

Below is an eye witness’ account:
“You know Sheifunmi is affiliated to MTV UK, so he was present at the press parley organised to interview artistes and MTV Bosses. Peeps like Ice Prince, Davido, 2face, Professor and lots of industry guys were present.

 As soon as Sheifunmi stepped in with his crew, Davido was informed he had one more interview, he asked who.

Then he pointed at Speen, Sheifunmi’s colleague, and was like “Hell no!”

Then he went on to say if Sheifunmi came close to him, he’ll beat him up and have him killed because Sheifunmi tweeted or talked about his Dad.

Davido stormed off childishly. Funny thing is he will always run into Sheifunmi. Seeing as the international blogger will be hosting the fashion police on the red carpet.

(GIST): Rapper Wale To Feature Wizkid On New Album #FLS

Nigerian-born rapper Wale says Wizkid will feature on his forthcoming album ‘The Gifted’ scheduled for release on June 25, 2013.

The Maybach Music Group rapper revealed this a few weeks ago on Twitter while dropping some hints on how his new album would sound.

‘Best believe I got some new music for that green white green on my new album.. Ask @wizkidayo‘, @Wale wrote.

A few weeks before that Wale had expressed Wizzy as his favourite African artiste.

The pair must have spent quite some time in the studio last year; Wizkid also disclosed in an interview with OK! Magazine that he had enlisted Wale on his upcoming mixtape.

Wizkid To Return to Former Music Label, EME

If everything goes according to plan, Wizkid will soon be returning to his former music label, EME Music Group, this is according to a reliable industry source.



The source revealed to me exclusively that Wizkid and EME bosses have been going back and forth for the last couple of weeks through their lawyers trying to agree on new terms of them working together again.

"Wizkid leaving EME was just his way of pushing the bosses at the label to take him seriously and increase his earning percentage. When he joined EME he wasn't a star but then he became a mega star and was making a lot of money for the label and they still didn't increase his earning percentage so he took a walk. Now they are working on a new contract that will favour Wizkid.

" The source said I hear in the new contract being drafted, EME will not take a dime from Wizkid's international deals. When they start working together again...
